Can't help but love this place, we got married here. Mike and the Beach Hut staff are truly amazing! People still talk about that day at Smith Point and it was 5 years ago. The prices have skyrocketed though and Its hard to see where the $18 admission fee is going. Not many renovations taking place and the parking area needs a total make over. Now that we live in Babylon, we frequent the town beaches here or Robert Moses, mainly due to the prices and distance to Smith Point. You can buy a Green Key Card and save but it's still pricey. Good beach though but if you go on the weekend, just be ready to get stepped on. Get there early and spread out. Take up some territory before it gets too crowded, otherwise you'll wish you did later.
If you go slightly later in the morning the line to get in is absolutely ridiculous. It can easily take a half an hour or more of waiting in your car before you even get to the toll booth. Then when you have to pay the ridiculously overpriced $18 parking fee you are greeted by a full parking lot and a long walk to the beach. Only to get to the beach to find it terribly crowded and dirty. Top it all off with a lack of decent showers and I would not go back to this beach again. The outer beach and camping options are the only thing that makes this beach worth going back to if that's what you're looking for.
Absolutely beautiful beach. Soft sand, clean, gradual and gentle walk into water with NO rocks at all. Plenty of parking but you pay before 5PM. Music with live band (usually 70's 80's stuff) fast food counter, bathrooms, friendly staff and lots of lifeguards. My favorite beach and it will be yours too.
Fairly clean. Easy to get to. Free parking during the off season.
Beautiful beach. Fun place to listen to music and to eat and drink.
